Technical Delivery Engineering Manager

Scopus a part of Amec Foster Wheeler, a recent winner of the Glassdoor Employees' Choice Award for 'Best Place to Work in 2016 - UK Category’, is currently recruiting a Technical Delivery Engineering Manager to join the Scopus Leadership Team in Aberdeen.

The Technical Delivery Engineering Manager role will be primarily based in the Westhill Regional office, but will require to be mobile to support the Scopus Global position and any other regional offices and site visits as part of the management visit schedule.

Primary Expectations:

  • Support delivery and Improvement of AFW Beyond Zero HSSE goals and objectives.
  • Support Scopus' Business improvement function to drive new business both in UK and internationally.
  • Drive the engineering teams to deliver the highest standard that fully meets our client’s requirements.
  • Ensure engineering is delivered in line with agreed budgets, man-hours and schedules.
  • Drive Engineering best practice within Scopus.
  • Maximise resource utilisation with engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with all mandatory procedures.
  • Drive & develop engineering continuous improvement initiatives and targets.
  • Work closely with Project Controls and Commercial to improve engineering reporting and planning.
  • Provide visible leadership to the Engineering team.
  • Support development opportunities within engineering team.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and Environment by ensuring personal safety and as far as reasonably practical that of others by following the Scopus / AFW corporate policies and applying Scopus / AFW HSE management systems.
  • Lead safety principles within the engineering team portraying excellent leadership qualities
  • Support defining and delivering the business strategy
  • Support Business development to drive through new business.
  • Ensure identification and management of business risk.
  • Ensure that all Engineering is carried out to the highest standard and meets the client’s requirements.
  • To work within the parameters of the Scopus management system and ISO 9001:2015.
  • Define and deliver the technical strategy.
  • Ensure competency processes are adhered to and reviewed as required.
  • Manage and deploy engineering resources across the Scopus / Hub integration
  • Develop and deploy Scopus engineering & technical processes.
  • Attract, retain, develop and manage engineering & technical talent pools including input into performance reviews and managing career paths.
  • Review safety, financial and delivery performance and deliver agreed business goals and objectives.
  • Drive delivery of technical assurance plans and associated activities such as audits, monthly reviews, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Scopus Engineering procedures and processes.
  • Liaise with the clients engineering teams and contract representatives (Both internal and external)
  • Report overall engineering status to Scopus Leadership team.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation.
  • Maintain and develop current awareness of engineering technologies, codes and standards.
  • Own and Drive engineering improvements and objectives.
  • Ensure learning opportunities are captured and realised.
  • Work in a collaborative way with other areas of the AFW group.

 

Skills / Qualifications

Role Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) (Chartered Engineer preferable)
  • Experienced Engineering / Delivery Manager
  • Proven leadership experience and a good communicator at all levels.
  • Inspirational thinker and flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to promote a proactive safety culture
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSEQ performance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of financial and commercial awareness and IT literate

2 x Dimensional Control Surveyor Level II

Scopus, a part of Amec Foster Wheeler are looking to recruit Dimensional Control Surveyor Level II for a duration of 3 months

Role:

To effectively carry out Dimensional Control Surveys, both onshore and offshore, for Scopus Engineering Ltd.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend a pre-contract planning / mobilisation brief with the Survey Manager/ Dimensional Control Survey Lead and ensure that the Scope of Work and contract deliverables is fully understood.
  • Application of all pre-mobilisation preparatory requirements, which may include equipment and documentation checks.
  • Obtain pertinent client permits to work as required.
  • Carry out the Dimensional Control Survey in accordance with Scopus Engineering Ltd HSEQ Management System procedures.
  • Implementations of Dimensional Control Survey fieldwork checks are applied to eliminate all potential “sources of error”.
  • Generate Survey data and subsequent Records as detailed in Scopus Engineering Ltd Procedure Dimensional Control.
  • Perform field calibration checks for the instruments / equipment used in the Dimensional Control Survey in compliance with Scopus Engineering Ltd Procedures.
  • Establish suitable communication medium to facilitate Dimensional Control Survey progress reporting highlighting potential growth / delays.
  • Notify the Dimensional Control Survey Lead of all site amendments to the original scope - whether by instruction from the customer’s site representative, or by site constraints unknown at the time of the initial planning meeting.
  • Where practicable, expedite written authorisation from the customer for any alterations or variations to the original workscope.
  • Carry out all pertinent technical computations and generate drawings or sketches depicting the surveyed information in accordance with the customer’s requirements as defined by the workscope. Where required, pass sketches to the Drawing Office Manager for final drawing.
  • Ensure all survey computations and records are presented to the Dimensional Control Survey Lead for checking.
  • Compile a Dimensional Control Survey Daily Report detailing events, constraints, omissions and recommendations. Include a detailed summary of the results of the survey emphasising any critical dimensions and an analysis of the quality of the results.
  • Pass all deliverables as defined by the customer’s workscope to the Dimensional Control Survey for final quality and completeness checking before transmittal to the customer.

Skills / Qualifications

Levels of Competence:

Scopus Engineering Ltd Surveyors must possess a sound knowledge of all aspects of Dimensional Control Survey techniques and required tolerances for structural and pipework surveys. They must have a minimum years related experience and a suitable academic qualification – typically University Degree / Higher National Certificate (HNC).

Senior Dimensional Control Surveyor

Scopus, a part of Amec Foster Wheeler are looking to recruit Senior Dimensional Control Surveyor for a duration of 3 months.

 

Role:

To effectively assist/manage all aspects associated with Dimensional Control Survey aspects and the efficient, cost effective delivery of Technical Compliant quality data to Scopus Engineering Ltd clients.

To liaise with Clients in respect to all technical aspects and deliver optimum solutions and exceed expectations.

Ensure all scopes of work are implemented in compliance with pertinent Scopus Engineering Ltd and Client Management Systems.

Provide effective leadership, mentoring and co-ordination to all Dimensional Control Survey personnel.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule the Dimensional Control Survey related aspects in conjunction with the Survey Manager.
  • To ensure that all Dimensional Control Surveys scopes of work are performed in accordance with HSEQ Procedures.
  • Review Dimensional Control Survey Reports and associated documentation for quality and completeness prior to submission Survey Manager for final approval as customer deliverables.
  • Ensure satisfactory survey quality records are progressively collated, indexed, filed, store and maintained.
  • Ensure that all Dimensional Control Survey equipment is maintained in good working order and is serviced and verified as valid calibrated prior to use.
  • To provide coaching, mentoring and support to the development of Dimensional Control Survey within the Scopus Engineering Ltd.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the Safety Management System are fully and effectively applied.
  • To ensure compliance and alignment of all Scopus Engineering Ltd activities & client HSEQ policies.
  • Adopt a pro-active role in identifying safety improvements.
  • Identify and investigate causes of adverse performance and recommend appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure that solutions provided to resolve problems do not adversely affect safety, integrity or the commercial aspects of the asset.
  • Identify potential opportunities to demonstrate the application of innovative technology to enhance product deliverables.
  • To provide Technical Experience / influence in development of personnel Competence.
  • Comprehensively review all pertinent client documentation and ensure all key deliverables are achieved as scheduled and within cost constraint parameters applied.
  • Active participation in pertinent Quality / Technical Audits as required.
  • The direction, control, monitoring, supervision and co-ordination of the Dimensional Control Survey activities in accordance with the Contract. Including cost control, estimating change and additional workscopes, reporting and forecasting progress.

Skills / Qualifications

Levels of Competence:

The Senior Dimensional Control Surveyor must have a sound knowledge of all aspects of Dimensional Control Survey, required tolerances, etc. and must have a good background in the application of survey techniques, a minimum 8 years practical experience supported by verifiable academic qualification. Be fully conversant with the requirement of the HSEQ Management System.

EOI - Land Surveyor

Due to ongoing demand, Scopus Engineering Ltd are looking for expressions of interest from ad-hoc Land Surveyors who are interested in upcoming work throughout the UK. If you believe you have the necessary knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to succeed in this position, then we would like to hear from you.

Please note that this is an ad-hoc role and you will be part of a pool and called upon as required.

 

Role / Title Land Surveyor - Reporting to Survey Manager

 

Role:

  • To effectively carry out topographic and engineering Surveys, including setting out for Scopus Engineering Ltd.
  • Processing of data and preparation of deliverables
  • To liaise with clients in respect to all technical aspects and deliver optimum solutions and exceed expectations
  • Ensure all scopes of work are implemented in compliance with pertinent Scopus Engineering Ltd and client management systems

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attend pre-contract planning / mobilisation brief with the Survey Manager / Client and ensure that the Scope of Work and contract deliverables is fully understood.
  • Liaising with clients & supervisors involved in projects
  • Planning and efficiently organising work in order to meet agreed deadlines
  • Carry out the Survey in accordance with Scopus Engineering Ltd HSEQ Management System procedures
  • Preparing & Checking of drawings and 3D models
  • Preparing survey reports as required

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in land/engineering surveying
  • Suitable engineering/surveying degree
  • Experience in surveys for overhead power lines preferable
  • Understanding of all aspects of surveying with particular focus on health and safety
  • Proficient use of CAD packages (LSS), use of Leica total stations & Leica GNSS systems
  • CSCS card, a full driving license and prepared to travel for work

 

HSEQ:
